vacuum forming is the process of taking a flat plastic sheet, heat it until soft and flexible,then stretch over a mould , vacuum the air from underneath the mould cavity allowing atmospheric pressure to force the plastic over the mould. The plastic sheet then takes and retains the shape of the mould, it will be trimmed as required to create a finished part.

Vacuum Forming Acrylic Signs are produced by vacuum forming a flat acrylic sheet over sign moulds. The sheet is heated and sucked down with a powerful vacuum and allowed to cool.
Vacuum formed faces can be used in individual channel letters or faces for internally illuminated cabinets.
